Ministries - Finance

Finance

The Finance Committee is composed of 5 members of the congregation, including the Treasurer and Rector of the Parish, and is appointed by the Vestry. The other three members are Liz Moore, Charles Mendoza and Jack Gorham, Chair. The Finance Committee meets after the 10 A.M. service on the Sunday before the Vestry meeting (which meets on the second Monday of each month). It is the responsibility of the Finance Committee to review and approve all financial reports of the Church and Preschool, review the status of pledges made during the year, review and approve the Budget for each year and see that an annual audit of the financial records is made each year. The Committee also reviews and approves other financial matters brought to them, such as outside bids and changes to the accounting system. All recommendations and approvals are forwarded to the Vestry for their approval. For more information about this committee, contact Jack Gorham at jack_g93@yahoo.com.

Planned Giving Program

The Planned Giving Committee is a new committee of five members who are planning the implementation of a Planned Giving Program at St. Mark’s. The Program is designed to establish an Endowment Fund for the future ministry of the Church.

We are presently working with an outside consultant from another Parish to assist us in setting up a structure for parish endowment funds with clear purposes, investment policies, and spending rules. The structure is to assure potential donor that the money they leave in their wills or give in a life-income gift, will be managed well and used for the purposes they intend. The program also includes tools in place to make potential donors aware of the opportunities they have to make a gift that is right for them and the Church. In addition, the program provides information to people interested in making planned gifts and making other necessary resources available. If you are interested in making a planned gift to the parish or are interested in helping with this effort, please contact David Caldwell at moritz-caldwell@sbcglobal.net.
